Today, it’s boots on for Pittsburgh where in hotel news Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has plans to open a Hotel Monaco this year in a circa-1903 Beaux Arts building in the heart of downtown:
+ 247 rooms, nearly 9,000 square feet of meeting and event space and a chef-driven, 120-seat restaurant with a prominent corner entrance.
+ nine story property
+ interiors to be locally inspired
+ joint venture with Philadelphia developer PMC Property Group, Kimpton’s KHP Fund III owns a 50 percent
stake in the new hotel, making it the company’s third owned and operated property in Pennsylvania, joining the
Hotel Monaco Philadelphia and Hotel Palomar Philadelphia.
Kimpton has also added or announced plans for hotels in Milwaukee, Cleveland, Austin and San Antonio.

Canada’s new national music centre is a $135-million facility set to open in 2015 in downtown Calgary. Architect is Brad Cloepfil. The NMC will be the city’s first national cultural institution and another new contemporary architecture masterpiece for the Western Economic Centre. All eyes are on the city’s East Village, poised for redevelopment.

Looking forward to a lasting relationship with you through the nextleg blog. Launching in 2013 and devoted to what’s new and next in travel.
